Apprentice chef

We need someone keen to learn the ropes to join our award winning kitchen.  Someone who loves cooking, is excited by the buzz and pace of the kitchen and can get stuff done.  

Classification: full time apprenticeship

 

Hours:  roughly 6am-4pm 4-5 days per week, including weekends.  Extra days, or hours may be needed (covering for others who are absent etc).  Attend Albury tafe 1 day per week.

Duties: All aspects of our kitchen operations may be required.  Dishwashing, food prep, sauce cooking, food service etc.  The ability to work alone,  and maintain standards is crucial.

Requirements:  

* whilst commercial kitchen experience isn't mandatory, it's best if you have had some time (in any capacity) in a kitchen (as kitchen hand  for example).  Any other hospitality experience (front of house, barista) is considered favourably also.  would prefer a candidate in their 2nd year of an apprenticeship

* The ability to work alone,  and maintain standards is crucial (thats a polite way of saying that you need to do an awesome job, even if nobody is watching you!).  

* A commitment to learn about food, and cooking.  Not just to attend tafe, and scrape through your assessments without any prior study.  We want someone who is into the whole commercial cooking thing! 

* It's a physically demanding job.  You'll be on your feet all day, working under pressure, and always needing to be fast.
